After Canelo Alvarez's last fight against Jaime Munguia, the Mexican made it clear that he has the ability to do whatever he wants with his career and with the opponents he faces. After winning his super middleweight titles, there was uncertainty as to what might happen in the future with his career.

Las Vegas is always one of Canelo's favourite arenas. One tradition he has adopted is to fight in September, usually on a night when Mexican Independence Day is near to honour his country.

It is not only him who fights on these dates, as there are several Mexican boxers who took the tradition of fighting on September 15.

The countdown begins and the rumours of who or who could be the next opponents for the fight that will take place in the coming months. There were a lot of expectations that David Benavidez could be his next opponent but Canelo was thinking about something else.

Who will face Canelo Alvarez?

There is one fighter who wants to take the championship from Alvarez, Eder Berlanga himself. The American, of Puerto Rican descent, is the candidate who could meet the Mexican in the ring.

According to ESPN's Salvador Rodriguez, Berlanga is the most likely candidate to face Alvarez. He is one of the great references of the 168 lbs in the World Boxing Association (WBA).

On social media, it was revealed that the American has a great chance of being Canelo's opponent. However, he is not the only name on the list. Jermall Charlo is another name on the list. In the past they were going to face each other but finally the fight went to Munguía.

Berlanga is the name most likely to be the Mexican's challenger. The date of the bout is also in doubt. It is in negotiations to be on September 14 but it is pending due to other events in Las Vegas, therefore, it could be rescheduled.
