Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has permanently shut down talks of a quarrel with the Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

Oyetola is the immediate past Governor of Osun State. He lost the bid to secure a second term in office to Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2022.

Talks of who becomes the candidate of the APC for the 2026 Osun state gubernatorial election are alleged to have pitched Oyetola and Basiru against each other.

Basiru who has become the face of the APC at the grassroots by among other things unceasingly taking the Adeleke government to task is being postured as the “perfect candidate” by words on the streets, while some others insist Oyetola deserves a second shot at the gubernatorial position.

While the talks of a rift between them rage, Basiru has consistently stated he remains in good stead with Oyetola.
