Real Madrid has activated the option to purchase Joselu from Espanyol, but the Spanish striker is poised to leave the club for Qatar.

Joselu joined Real Madrid on loan from Espanyol last summer following Espanyol’s relegation from LaLiga. On Thursday, Espanyol confirmed that Real Madrid has triggered Joselu’s €1.5 million release clause.

Despite this move, Cadena SER reports that the 34-year-old striker is set to be sold to Al-Gharafa in Qatar.

Joselu had a productive season, scoring 18 goals in 49 appearances, contributing significantly to Carlo Ancelotti’s side as they clinched both the LaLiga title and the Champions League.
