In order to support smallholder farmers in Kaduna State, the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) has flagged off an exercise aimed at providing critical assistance to affected farmers. 

According to the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, the initiative has already identified 5,000 smallholder farmers across 7 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

On June 12th, 2024, the Executive Secretary/CEO of NADF, Muhammadu Abu Ibrahim launched the exercise in Kachia, marking the beginning of a comprehensive effort to support smallholder farmers in the region.

Affected ginger farmers in Jema’a, Sanga, and Jaba LGAs received GRATE package inputs provided by the Federal Government today, a significant step towards ensuring the success of the programme.

Senator Kyari emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting smallholder farmers, stating, “Our commitment remains strong, and this initiative is not tied to any individual but to the collective effort of ensuring our farmers’ success.” 

He also noted that he receives daily updates on the progress of the initiative, underscoring the government’s dedication to resolving the challenges faced by smallholder farmers in Kaduna State.

This development is a welcome relief for smallholder farmers in the region, who have been facing numerous challenges in recent times. 

The support provided by NADF and the Federal Government is expected to significantly enhance the productivity and livelihoods of these farmers, contributing to the overall growth and development of the agricultural sector in Nigeria.
