SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) An Iowa woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly neglecting an adult in her care, who was found with several ailments, including a maggot-infested wound.

According to court documents, Sioux City police were called to a local emergency room on May 29 just after 1 a.m. for a dependent adult who was suffering from “severe mistreatment.”

Officials said the victim was brought in after a fall at her residence. She was suffering from “severe rashes, dead skin, and had live maggots living within a wound on her leg,” the documents stated.

The victim, whose name was not disclosed, told police that she had not seen a doctor for about eight months, and she hadn’t showered in about the same length of time.

The victim said Traci Orr, 51, lived with her for about a year to help take care of her. She also said that she was unable to walk and would soil herself on the couch. On the night that she fell, she was reportedly on the ground for about 14 to 16 hours before Orr called for assistance.

Court documents state that Orr’s neglect led to the victim’s injuries. The victim is unable to live on her own, so she is classified as a dependent adult, and Orr was to be the victim’s caretaker.

Orr was arrested and charged with reckless dependent adult abuse with serious injury, a class D felony. She was booked into the Woodbury County Jail, but has since bonded out.
