Joining Families in Reunification
In the 14th Judicial Circuit, children are joyfully reuniting with their birth parents, all thanks to the dedicated efforts of the NWFL Health Network staff. Research indicates that children thrive best when they are in a safe environment with their families. Kelly Faircloth, the Circuit 14 director, highlighted the importance of National Reunification Month in celebrating the safe return of families previously separated due to safety concerns.
Addressing Substance Abuse Impact
Substance abuse in households is a primary reason for children's separation from their families. Staff members work tirelessly to ensure children find permanent living arrangements within a year to prevent extended stays within the system.
A Unified Approach
Reunification requires a collaborative effort involving case managers, family members, community support systems, attorneys, and foster parents. Maintaining children's connections to their community, schools, and loved ones throughout the reunification process is crucial.
Empowering Families
Since July of the previous year, NWFL Health Network has successfully reunited 157 children with their families, bringing back together a total of 78 families. Currently, 127 children in Circuit 14 are on the path to reunification. Despite the challenges of separation, the organization remains devoted to reuniting children with their families promptly to foster stability and well-being.
Setting a Positive Example
NWFL Health Network consistently ranks among the top four circuits in the state for establishing stable living arrangements for children within 12 months. The inspiring success stories of families reuniting serve as a source of hope and motivation in the community.
