Ronny Deila is someone who has a lot of respect from Celtic supporters after spending two years at the club as manager between 2014 and 2016.

The 48-year-old won two Scottish Premiership titles and a Scottish League Cup during his time in charge and was a passionate figure who laid some solid foundations for Brendan Rodgers to build on in his first tenure.

Since leaving Celtic, the Norwegian coach has spent time at Valerenga, New York City, Standard Liege and Cercle Brugge, most notably winning the MLS Cup in 2021.

Now, he has decided to take on a new venture and could make a surprising appointment to join him, according to reports.

Ronny Deila lands Al Wahda managerial role

Earlier today, UAE Pro League side Al Wahda announced on X that they have appointed Deila as their new head coach from the forthcoming season onwards.

Releasing a statement, the club said: “Official Statement | Ronny Deila Appointed as Head Coach. Al Wahda FC has signed Norwegian head coach Ronny Deila (48 years old) to take charge of the first football team starting from the 2024/2025 sports season.

“The club’s Board of Directors welcomed the new coach to the home of champions. In their statement, they highlighted Ronny’s impressive resume and early start to his coaching career, wishing him and the team success in the upcoming important competitions.

“For his part, the coach expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the club’s leadership and management, praising the professionalism in completing the contract procedures and expressing his pride and happiness in signing with Al Wahda FC in Abu Dhabi.”

Ronny Deila could make a surprise appointment

The Scottish Sun claim that Kenny Miller is in line to be his assistant manager at Al Wahda as he seeks a return to coaching.

In what would be a surprise turn of events, the Scotland international is reportedly headed for the Middle East as the Emerati outfit look to claim their first league title since 2010.

Deila has experience delivering silverware with Stromsgodset, Celtic, and New York City, so he certainly has the credentials to fulfil ambitions set at Al Nahyan Stadium.

Playing an attractive brand of football, he also has a penchant for offering young players a chance to establish themselves in the first-team, something seen in action at Parkhead.

All the best to Deila in his new role! Hopefully, the Al Wahda fans can witness the famous ‘Ronny Roar’ in full flow once he gets down to work.
