Bandits Abduct 47 Residents In Zamfara

Bandits have attacked and abducted 47 people from the Danbaza community in the Maradun local government area of Zamfara State.

A source within the community, who gave his name as Abdul Danbaza told LEADERSHIP Friday that the bandits besieged the village on Wednesday at 2:30 am and abducted 47 people, mostly women and children, into the bush.

He stated that the bandits, about a hundred in number, all on motorcycles carrying sophisticated weapons, entered the village, and started shooting sporadically in the air and succeeded in kidnapping many people and started moving them down the forest.

Abdul, who further narrated the ugly scenario, said he narrowly escaped from the hands of the bandits while moving them when he luckily sneaked and hid behind a tree.

“I was lucky to have escaped from the bandits’ hands who attacked our village, but unfortunately, my father and some of my family were among the number of people who were attacked and moved to the bush”,

Bandits in recent times have threatened several communities of the Maradun local government area, where they attacked, killed and kidnapped several people, including even Maradun town, the home town of Minister of State Defence Bello Mohammed Matawalle.

The most recent attacks on communities in Maradun local government area include Janbako, Gora Namaye, Kaya, and Maradun town.

The spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the Danbaza attack and promised to call back after investigating the incident. He was yet to call back at the time of filing this report.
