ODU Hails Senator Ashiru on Gbomi Bridge, Ojoku Road

Offa Descendants Union (ODU) has commended Senator Oyelola Ashiru for prompt intervention on Gbomi bridge, Ojoku road.

ODU Global Secretary, Dr. Rauf Oladipo in a statement issued on Monday applauded Senator Ashiru for prompt interventions and swift response to the imminent Gbomi bridge collapse in Offa.

The statement read: “On behalf of ODU Global President, Alh. Muideen Olaniyi Azeez Salako and the entire ODU National Executive Council, we want to sincerely appreciate the duo of Hon. Seun Ogunniyi (Adato) and our distinguished Deputy Senate Leader-Senator Yissa Lola Ashiru for their prompt interventions and swift response to the imminent Gbomi bridge collapse in Offa.

“This preparedness response from the duo shows good leadership, responsibility and accountability to the electorates. The duo have demonstrated that they value the lives and properties of Offa people who they serve and can always be relied on.

“The entire Offa people are grateful for this and ODU assures all that we will continue to monitor progress of efforts by Offa Engineers in providing palliative measures to prevent and mitigate the impending risk of hazards that the said bridge may pose to the commuters of this road, while also keep track with Kwara state government to provide a durable solution to the collapsing bride.”

The Senator earlier  directed his aides in charge of public facilities to immediately liaise with Offa Engineers in a bid to provide urgent palliative to the collapsed GBOMI bridge and failed portion along Ojoku road.

Recall the public outcry about the impending collapse of the bridge that links major government institutions like Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State College of Health, Mopol Barrack, Offa Divisional Police State, NSCDC Area Command and the famous One Innovation Hub, Offa.

The team of Offa Engineers led by Engr. Bello Ismail, the director of project facilities conducted a thorough technical assessment of the failed portion of the road while technical and financial report will be submitted to the office of the Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru for immediate action.
