A security guard at a Penn Hills bar has been charged with homicide in connection to a June 2 shooting at that bar that left two dead and seven injured.

Allegheny County police said detectives learned 42-year-old Chaz Jackson, of Pittsburgh, was one of the individuals responsible for the overnight shooting at Ballers Hookah Lounge and Cigar Bar.

Nathaniel Smiley, 44, and Stephanie Stuart, 28, died in the shooting.

Investigators say Jackson was working as an armed security guard on the night of the shooting. He is accused of being responsible for the homicide of Stuart as well as causing injuries to at least one of the surviving victims.

County police said in a statement in the hours following the shooting that it appeared multiple people opened fire at the bar that night.

Police say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
