Gov Dapo Abiodun Urges Ogun Corps Members To Surpass Predecessors’s Records

The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has urged Corps members deployed to the state to renew their commitment to nation building by surpassing the records of their predecessors.

Addressing guests and the Corps Members recently at the Swearing-In Ceremony /Official Opening of the 2024 Batch B Stream l Orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Gateway International Stadium recently, the Governor charges the corps members to strive hard to surpass them through good conduct and character.

According to him, the task of nation-building requires essential traits such as patriotism, dedication, good morale, service, industry and self discipline.
Governor Abiodun, represented by Honourable Wasiu Isiaka, Commissioner for Sports Development, acknowledges that the challenges are enormous, adding that so are the reward of positively impacting society, saying that positive decisions imbibed at this period will shape their future.

Welcoming members of the Batch to Ogun State, the Governor charged them to be committed and emphasised that diligent participation and understanding of the orientation course content will determine their performances throughout the service year.

“Stay alert, be attentive and engaged in all activities designed to ensure a smooth and fulfilling service experience. I’m confident that you will make a good experience with your dedication throughout the service year in your assigned communities,” he added.

In her welcome address, the Ogun State Coordinator of the Scheme,
 Mrs Olayinka Nasamu welcomed the Governor Abiodun, the State Chief Judge, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu and the Director, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) South West Area Office, Mrs. Abiodun Oluwaremilekun to the ceremony.

Nasamu explained that the three-week long Orientation Exercise, which is regimented, is packaged to instill in the Corps Members the disciplined mind and sense of self-reliance needed to face the challenges ahead, during and after the service year.
She warned the corps members to be disciplined, saying that no act of indiscipline of any sort will be tolerated in the Camp,

“At the end of the registration exercise, a total of 2,318 were registered for Ogun State, made up of 916 males and 1,402 females, and a total of 417 dislodged from Lagos State, comprising 66 males and 351 females. I am happy to say that since their arrival, they have been peaceful and orderly in their conduct, as well as adapting to the regimentation of the camp.”

She expressed appreciation to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his numerous supports and attention to the NYSC Scheme, especially giving prompt attention to our requests and the safety of our Corps Members. Sir, we appreciate you so much.”

She also acknowledged the presence of the Director from the South West Area Office and thanked all collaborating agencies for the prompt release of personnel for the programme and commitment over the years to partner with NYSC.

The Corps Members were later sworn on Oath before the Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu represented by Hon. Justice Adetokunbo Jibodu who administered the Oath of Allegiance to the Corps Members symbolically represented by corps members each representing the 6 geopolitical zones as they sign the Oath of Allegiance form on behalf of their colleagues.

Highlights of the event were the words of encouragement to the corps members by the Seriki Hausa of Sagamu, Alhaji Inuwa Garba and his Igbo counterpart, Eze Michael Una, the Onyendu Ndigbo, Ogun State.
