While the world at large believed Maeve died, Vought CEO Ashley Barrett discovered evidence of her survival via security recordings but deleted the video in an act of compassion to help Maeve and her girlfriend escape Homelander and Vought’s radar. The Boys also knew Maeve survived as they helped her go into hiding.
