This week, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to complaints about trucks from the motoring public by deploying a “Commercial Vehicle Strike Force” (CVSF) in the San Gorgonio Pass Area.

According to CHP – San Gorgonio Pass, the CVSF was deployed on June 11 on I-10 and SR-60 to target commercial vehicles traveling out of lane and Primary Collision Factor (PCF) violations. The four hour operation utilized nine CHP personnel.

Troopers say that enforcement effort was a result of complaints by the public about heavy truck traffic and traffic violations in the area:

Due to the junction of two major freeways in the Pass area, including Interstate 10 and State Route 60, commuters experience a large volume of commercial vehicle traffic. As a result, the motoring public has experienced and voiced concerns regarding their experiences with commercial traffic violations. In response to these concerns and complaints, the CHP San Gorgonio Pass Area and Desert Hills CVEF have created the CVSF to specifically address commercial vehicles traveling outside of designated lanes.

• 31 Commercial vehicle out of lane violations.
• 11 Commercial vehicle speeding violations.
• 4 Commercial vehicle inspections.
• 1 Unlicensed commercial vehicle driver.
• 3 Commercial vehicles failing to stop at an inspection facility.
• 3 Out of Service orders (2 commercial vehicles and 1 commercial driver)
