CJ's Friday afternoon weather update

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Hot and humid weather continues through the day after 4th of July with a Heat Advisory in place until 7pm tonight. There will also be scattered showers and storms in the area moving southward through the afternoon and into some of the evening. These storms will bring heavy rainfall and gusty winds while remaining non-severe. Through the rest of the night, temperatures will be in the 80′s and 70′s across the area and conditions will remain dry and humid.

Our weekend starts off with temperatures in the low to mid 90′s across the area with some places in the 80′s due to a cold front that will move through with the storms this afternoon. Some popup storms are possible again for Saturday afternoon to areas mainly south of I-20 due to the humidity, while most areas around and north of I-20 remain dry. Sunday presents similar conditions with a higher chance for rain possibly coming from Tropical Storm Beryl in the Gulf of Mexico.

We will get into a pattern, from here on out, of daily (higher) rain chances just before Beryl approaches our region. According to Tropical Storm Beryl’s track, our east Texas zones are in the cone of uncertainty 4-5 days out from now and it can bring a lot of rain to our area with some severe storm chances. Rainfall totals for the next 7 days can get near or slightly above 5 inches across some areas with Beryl heading our way. Make sure to stay first aware and first alert to the latest updates because rain is on the way for the ArkLaTex!
