‘On everyone’s lips’ has travelled to Castellón to interview several residents and see for themselves how complicated the situation is with these squatters who have entered a block of social housing that was empty.

The tough clashes with squatters

We spoke with Aroa and Joaquinneighbors of the squatted building, who told us the details of the attack: “They were on the street and We recorded them with sticks while they were confronting the police. When they left they went up to my house with iron bars and beat the vice president’s husband. We have reported it, his entire arm is covered in bruises.”

Aroa also says that at that time she did not even dare to go out and now she is grateful for not having done so: “If I had done that, I would have ended up in the hospital.”

Joaquín, another of the neighbors, confesses that in the squatted house next door, there are drug dealing: “They even consume next to my window, There is a lot of traffic at 4 and 5 in the morning.” He also comments that the squatters have broken down the doors of the entire property and anyone can enter, leaving them in a dangerous and unsafe situation.

“They told me that they were going to destroy my car and that any day I left the house They were going to break down my door and I would find them inside when I returned,” He recounted one of the threats Aroa received from squatters.
