A group of renowned speakers associated with the Florida Institute of Technology will be presenting a series of lectures this summer at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Babcock St. in Florida. Visioning Our Biosphere: The series aims to revisit the examination of our universe and the challenges ahead to create a resilient biosphere for the planet's population projected to reach nearly 10 billion. Retired Florida Tech Dean, Vice President, and professor Cliff Bragdon expressed the importance of addressing threats like rising waters and landscape loss in the near future. Diving into Space Settlements: The lectures commenced with Cliff Bragdon's talk on 'Resilience - Essential Attributes for Protecting our Biospheric Universe,' followed by a presentation from former NASA astronaut Capt. Winston Scott on 'The Future Settlement of Outer Space.' Urban Planning and Coastal Preservation: The upcoming sessions will cover topics like 'Cities, Urban Planning and Future Development' by President Emeritus Tony Catanese and 'The Necessity for Marine and Coastal Preservation' by Robert Sluka. The series will conclude with a lecture by Florida Tech president John Nicklow on 'The Optimization of Environmental and Water Resource Systems.'
