Tim Steidten has been hit by a crushing blow as West Ham miss out on three targets in the last 24 hours but four are still on.

West Ham are still on the hunt for another five signings after completing a £40m deal for Max Kilman.

Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui and technical director Tim Steidten spoke last week about their big plans.

Lopetegui wants to make a ‘big noise’ at West Ham but when asked about signings he deferred to Steidten, who has full control of recruitment.

So far young Brazilian attacker Luis Guilherme, back-up goalkeeper Wes Foderingham and centre-back Kilman have arrived.

West Ham want to sign another centre-back, at least one versatile full-back, a central midfielder, left-sided attacker and a striker.

Following the capture of Kilman, West Ham told Hammers News that a striker is next on the agenda.

But the club’s options narrowed overnight.

There has been a crushing blow as West Ham miss out on three targets in 24 hours but four are still on.

West Ham made an official bid for Georgian Euros star Georges Mikautadze last week.

The diminutive striker was loaned back to Metz just six months after joining Ajax last season.

And the deal was made permanent as part of an obligation to buy last week.

Blow as West Ham miss out on three targets in 24 hours

But, as reported on Hammers News, Metz intend to sell him on for a profit immediately.

It has been widely reported that West Ham’s offer, rumoured to be around £20m, was the highest Metz had received for Mikautadze.

Last night, though, it was reported that he is now on the verge of joining Thilo Kehrer at Monaco after ‘positive talks’.

Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro told GFFN last night that he is in talks with Metz and is confident of securing a deal to sign the prolific forward, who scored three goals at the Euros.

There was more bad news for West Ham last night when it emerged two more Steidten targets are about to be lured elsewhere.

The likes of The Athletic’s David Ornstein have confirmed that Hull City defender Jacob Greaves and their attacker Jaden Philogene are both in talks to join Ben Johnson at Ipswich Town.

Greaves and Philogene have been linked with moves to West Ham all summer.

Particularly with the club keen to sign the best talent from the Championship and recruit homegrown players.

To Hull and back for Hammers

There has been talk that the Hammers wanted to try and pair Greaves with Kilman while Philogene is a versatile attacker capable of playing in multiple positions.

But Ornstein has revealed that Ipswich have won the race with a double deal worth around £35m close to being completed.

“Jacob Greaves given permission to undergo medical with Ipswich Town ahead of proposed move from Hull City,” Ornstein said.

“Talks over Jaden Philogene ongoing. Double deal likely but not agreed and Philogene also wanted by Crystal Palace.”

There has been some positive news for West Ham, though.

Because according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, four West Ham targets are still within reach.

Four targets still on for West Ham

Sheth says West Ham remain in talks with Southampton to sign Kyle Walker-Peters.

And he revealed that the Hammers are keeping an open mind about that situation with the Saints pushing for more money.

So much so, the club is considering making a move for Man United outcast Aaron Wan-Bissaka instead.

Interestingly, Lopetegui tried to sign Wan-Bissaka while at Wolves.

“Aaron Wan-Bissaka is one of a number of players they’re looking at, but Kyle Walker-Peters as well,” Sheth told GiveMeSport.

“Now, initial talks between West Ham and Southampton have highlighted a gap in valuation, but Southampton will be very wary that Kyle Walker-Peters is entering the final year of his contract.”

Sheth has also taken confirmed that West Ham very much remain in the race to sign Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo or Lyon’s Jake O’Brien as their second central defender.

The Hammers had a £25m bid rejected for Todibo last week before signing Kilman.

Lyon have to raise around £80m in player sales for financial reasons but Steidten is yet to make a formal approach for Irish defender O’Brien.
