The Chairman of Oye Local Government Area in Ekiti, Mrs Clara Bamisile, has appealed to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) to improve its power supply to the area.

Bamisile made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Sunday in Oye-Ekiti.

She said that the unstable electricity supply being experienced in the communities was not encouraging.

She also expressed concern that it was quite unfortunate many artisans, whose jobs required electricity were suffering.

Bamisile emphasised that the safe living and general wellbeing of residents was always her priority.

“It is quite unfortunate that the state, and the local government are experiencing poor supply of electricity, and it is seriously affecting our people, especially the artisans, who rely on electricity to carry out their trades.

“I want to appeal to BEDC, to consider the plight of my people and improve on the current tempo of supply of electricity.

“I do not think paying bills without benefiting any electricity supply will be tolerated by the residents.

“And I will not want a situation whereby they will be protesting against BEDC for accumulating bills for services not rendered to them.

“I believe they are working hard to restore regular supply of electricity but they should be considerate while billing the residents,” she said.

The chairman, therefore, appealed to the agitated residents of the community to remain calm and always pay their electricity bills.

She assured them that regular electricity supply to the community would be restored soon.(NAN
