The Pakistan Rangers and Sindh police conducted an operation in the riverine area of Kashmore on Saturday, successfully rescuing three Hindu businessmen from the Bhayo gang, with two suspects killed during the mission.

A statement from the paramilitary force’s spokesperson detailed that the joint operation against the gang resulted in five other suspects being injured, although they managed to escape.

The deceased suspects were identified as “notorious dacoit Imdad alias Imdo Bhayo and his brother, Nazeer alias Mawali alias Miandad.”

The statement described the dead suspect as the “mastermind” behind the abduction of the three traders and five bank employees. It added that the brothers had between 25 and 50 cases against them for kidnappings, encounters, attacks on police pickets, robberies, and murders.

Imdad’s body was transported to Civil Hospital Kandhkot for legal formalities, while search operations continue to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Suspected bandits operating out of Kashmore are notorious for abductions. In March, a man abducted for a Rs20 million ransom after leaving for his home in Sukkur was found dead in Kashmore’s riverine area in May.

Police sources indicate that the suspected kidnappers had been in contact with the family of Agha Sohail Ali Khan, initially demanding Rs20 million for his release, later reducing it to Rs10 million.
