TMI has the latest on one of the Wolverines’ targets
One of the top basketball players in the country this cycle is Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's 2025 five-star shooting guard Trey McKenney.
The state's top prospect has racked up over 35 scholarship offers including one from the Maize and Blue.
The hometown Wolverines have heavily been recruiting the elite 6-foot-4, 225-pounder for years and now will have another shot to impress the local standout.
McKenney has confirmed with The Michigan Insider that he will be taking an official visit to Michigan on September 21st.
"(Looking forward to) just getting to build my relationship with the staff and you know them talking about me being a priority," McKenney said.
He has started forming a strong rapport with the new coaching staff in Ann Arbor and looks forward to furthering those bonds on this upcoming trip.
"I like them," McKenney said of U-M's staff. "I'm just excited to get down there especially (Head) Coach (Dusty) May and (Assistant) Coach (Mike) Boynton just talking about how I'm a priority. I'm just ready to get down there and see what it's like."
As a junior, he earned MaxPreps second-team Junior All-American honors. He was selected as the Michigan MaxPreps Player of the Year. He averaged 22.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per outing to lead the Eaglets (27-1) to their first state championship since 2000 and the No. 22 spot in the final MaxPreps Top 25.
He posted 32 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 8-of-11 from the field and connecting on all 14 free throw attempts in the state title game.

McKenney sits as the No. 16 overall prospect in the 2025 class, the No. 3 shooting guard in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Michigan for his class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
