The biggest Indian show on OTT, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Mirzapur finally made a comeback witha bloody, gory and violent season three.

The show, despite the absence of Divyenndu’s fan-favourite character Munna Bhaiya, is receiving love from fans and critics alike.

While there were a number of characters that were introduced, the whole season majorly focused on Ali Fazal’s Guddu Pandit and his descent into madness being the self-destructive force that he is.

Interestingly though, it wasn’t his character who was at the centre of the explosive finale but Pankaj Tripathi’s Kaleen Bhaiya, who stayed in the background throughout the show.

Before moving forward, let me caution you, the road ahead is filled with major spoilers for season three.

What Happened At The End Of Mirzapur Season 3?

After saving Kaleen Bhaiya’s life, Sharad Shukla gets his treatment done and cares for him like a family member, a father that he lost, despite his ulterior motive.

In return, Kaleen Bhaiya promises Sharad that he will sit on the throne and will be the new king Of Mirzapur considering Guddu Pandit is in jail for the brutal murder of Robin.

Sharad then calls for a meeting between all the baahubalis and as Munawwar tries to take control of Purvanchal despite resistance from Sharad, Kaleen Bhaiya makes a crowd-pleasing entry leaving everyone surprised and shocked.

He then announces Sharad as his successor. As Sharad walks towards the throne, in a massive twist, Kaleen Bhaiya shoots him dead. This leads to chaos but Kaleen with the help of the cops kills all the baahubalis including Munawwar.

The show ends with a dead Sharad Shukla sitting on the throne. His ultimate wish was finally fulfilled but only for a few seconds.

Why Kaleen Bhaiya Killed Sharad Shukla?

The equation between Kaleen Bhaiya and Sharad Shukla had become like that of a father and a son. Kaleen was indebted to Sharad for saving his life and was grateful to him and his mother for making him a part of their family despite the past animosity between the two clans.

So, why did Kaleen out of the blue kill Sharad? The simple answer is CM Madhuri Yadav made him do it. Right before the meeting of baahubalis, Madhuri meets Kaleen Bhaiya in private and blackmails him by offering him a deal that if he wants his family (wife and son) back and wants revenge from Guddu Pandit, then Sharad Shukla shouldn’t be given the control of Mirzapur or Purvanchal.

Even though Kaleen is shown to be against the idea, it can be assumed that he eventually gave in because he wanted to reunite with his family and even more than that, he wanted to avenge Munna’s killing.

Also, it is not shown to the audience, but it was perhaps Madhuri Yadav who asked Kaleen Bhaiya to kill Sharad Shukla and the rest of the baahubalis because she wanted to avenge her father’s murder and eradicate crime from Purvanchal.

The Intriguing Post Credit Scene

After the explosive and shocking finale, we witness an epilogue of sorts where Kaleen Bhaiya finally gets reunited with his wife Beena Tripathi and toddler son. While Kaleen seems relieved, Beena is stressed considering she helped Guddu Pandit attack him and Munna.

In the post credit scene, we see a man working in a field and is called upon by his co-worker saying a woman has come to meet him. The woman is Beena’s househelp/confidante and the man is revealed to be former Kaleen Bhaiya loyalist Maqbool.

At the end of season two, Maqbool loses it after realising that his bed-ridden mother was killed by Munna and Babuji and Kaleen Bhaiya react casually to it. Maqbool then attacks the Tripathi household and shoots Babuji. But the final blow on him was done by Beena whom he was sexually exploiting for years.

The return of Maqbool could mean Beena now has another plan to take down Kaleen Bhaiya and be the queen of Mirzapur as she had expressed this desire earlier to Madhuri Yadav.

Season four may see Beena plotting and planning another downfall of her husband and Maqbool will be an integral part of the plan.

Mirzapur season three is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
