More-pork! More-pork!
Ruru, also known as a morepork, is Aotearoa New Zealand’s only surviving species of native owl. This book, set in an urban landscape, follows Ruru’s nocturnal activities, where he hunts prey, feeds his chicks and navigates the dangers lurking within his environment.
Katie Furze’s accessible text is accompanied on each page by interesting fact boxes and stunning illustrations by leading New Zealand wildlife illustrator Ned Barraud. The back of the book includes some historical background and more fascinating ruru facts.
Katie Furze writes children’s fiction and non-fiction, including picture books, short stories, articles, plays, readers and novels. This is her second non-fiction picture book with Scholastic, the first was Tuatara, a Living Treasure. Katie has a master’s degree in creative writing and is fascinated by science and nature.
