York County, Pennsylvania - In an exciting kickoff, numerous local businesses in York County came together at WellSpan Park to inaugurate the highly-anticipated 2024 Makers Spirit Event. This annual festivity serves as a tribute to the exceptional craftsmanship displayed by the thriving business community in the region.
Exploring Authentic Creations
Melissa Beaverson, a representative from Explore York, expressed her enthusiasm about the event, stating, "This is our way of showcasing all these authentic makers who call York County their home." Attendees of the event will have the unique opportunity to witness firsthand the intricate processes involved in the production of their favorite locally crafted products.
Diverse Offerings
Beaverson highlighted the array of activities available throughout the weekend, including behind-the-scenes tours, educational sessions, arts and crafts exhibitions, interactive make-and-take events, and collaborative food experiences. She emphasized, "It really is a way to culminate and showcase all of our makers." This year, approximately 35 businesses from across York County are actively participating in the Makers Spirit Event.
Promoting Fresh Produce
One of the notable participants in this year's event is York Fresh Food Farms, a non-profit organization dedicated to cultivating fresh produce for the residents of the City of York. Matthew Hartman, a representative from the farm, emphasized the significance of the event in expanding their outreach. He mentioned, "It’s a vacant lot that we grow fresh produce on, and people don’t know we’re there. So we want to promote what we are; we are here to feed the community healthy, fresh foods."
