Fugitive Woman Arrested at Mexico Border for Killing Boyfriend 4 Years Ago

A woman wanted for the murder of her boyfriend in 2020 was arrested this week at the US-Mexico border.

Sheila Camarena, 28, was taken into custody on an outstanding murder warrant on Tuesday at the US Port of Entry on San Ysidro Boulevard, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Camarena was wanted for the murder of 33-year-old Mychael Farve on September 18, 2020. Police were called to the scene early that morning and found Farve with “sustained trauma” to his upper body. He was taken to a local hospital but died less than an hour later.

After a months-long investigation, detectives learned that Farve had been in a relationship with Camarena and that they’d had a “confrontation” before Camarena shot him.

Camarena was identified as a “person of interest” in October, the Times of San Diego reported.

A warrant for her arrest was issued on February 25, 2021, police said.

Camarena is being held without bail. Her arraignment is scheduled for Monday.
