Sheriff's office, DWI vehicle respond after NC state trooper vehicle crashes into ditch

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — News 13 is working to learn more after a North Carolina State Highway Patrol vehicle was seen late Wednesday night, July 3, in a ditch with its back tire up in the air along Sweeten Creek Road in south Asheville.

The incident took place in front of the Stop-n-Go convenience store along Sweeten Creek Road, across from the intersection with Weston Road.

A News 13 crew saw more state trooper vehicles at the scene, along with a Buncombe County DWI Traffic Enforcement vehicle and another Buncombe County Sheriff's patrol vehicle. Another state trooper vehicle was also seen stationary about one mile down from the incident.

It remains unclear whether there were any injuries.

News 13 reached out to Buncombe County Sheriff's Office early Thursday morning to learn more details but has yet to hear back.
