Leicester City under threat of hefty points deduction after Premier League promotion

tribuna.com 2024/10/5

Leicester City could start the 2024/25 Premier League campaign with a hefty points deduction for breaching financial fairplay rules.

As per Football Insider, the Foxes failed to challenge their Profit and Sustainability (PSR) charge for allegedly breaching rules in the 2022/23 season.

Leicester are now at the threat of facing a seven-point deduction next season. This could be done before the Premier League campaign begins, meaning they’ll begin it on -7 points.

The Foxes reported hefty losses of £89.7m in the 2022/23 season. They were reportedly £40m-£50m above the limit allowed by the Premier League and will be punished for that.

The Premier League clamped down on Everton and Nottingham Forest for breaching PSR rules last season. The Toffees were docked 12 points last season, while Forest received a four-point deduction.
