Newcastle United will kick off the new campaign with an opening encounter against newly promoted Southampton at St James' Park.

The Saints travel to Tyneside on August 17 in a Saturday clash that has already been given an old-fashioned 3pm start. It could see Ryan Fraser get an early return to the club with the Scotland international in talks over a permanent move to Russell Martin's side.

United's first away fixture will be at the Vitality Stadium a week later at AFC Bournemouth as Eddie Howe returns to his old club. And the month of August will be completed with a home game against Tottenham Hotspur on August 31.

Newcastle will also have a Carabao Cup second round date to squeeze into the final week of August after failure to qualify for Europe cost them a bye to round three. The FA Cup third round is scheduled for the weekend commencing January 11 this year.

Newcastle will play host to Pep Guardiola's Premier League champions at St James' Park on September 28 while the long trip to Portman Road to face another of the newly promoted sides in Ipswich Town is scheduled to take place on December 21 just before Christmas.

The long trip to Suffolk though is at least followed by a home fixture on Boxing Day with Newcastle handed a tasty battle with Aston Villa on December 26. Newcastle will then travel to Manchester United for their second festive fixture on three days later for the final game of 2024.

Newcastle's first match of 2025 will be away to Tottenham Hotspur on January 4. The long journey to Southampton is also in the first month of next year with a January 25 trip to St Mary's Stadium scheduled as things stand.

The Magpies' final away game of next season will be on May 18 at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium while Howe's team have been handed a home finish with Everton the final day visitors for a 4pm kick off on May 25.
