Amarachi Okafor, the first daughter of late comic Nollywood actor, John Okafor better known as Mr Ibu on Friday said she never had a father- daughter relationship with the late actor.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the 62-year-old was laid to rest in his hometown, Amuri in the Nkanu West Local Government of Enugu State on Friday.

Videos that emerged online show moments from the funeral ceremony in Enugu as friends and family members could not hold back tears as they bid farewell to the late thespian.

Speaking after the late actor’s burial, Amarachi in an interview said that she did not get to meet her father in person until he was sick, adding that she grew up with her mother and never got to have a father and daughter relationship with him.

She said, “My name is Amarachi Okafor. I am his first daughter of late Mr Okafor. We had a lot of moments together, but i did not get to meet him in person until he was sick and that was the first and last time we got to see each other.

“I have been with my mom since. Meeting him for the first time on the sick bed was so frustrating. I am not happy we did not get to have a father and  daughter relationship before his death.”

Mr. Ibu passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, after a prolonged illness which required financial assistance. In November 2023, his family confirmed that one of his legs had been amputated in a bid to save his life.
