Lamwo Magistrate Court on Wednesday charged and remanded Oyet Sisto Ocen, the district LC5 chairman, over charges of obtaining money by false pretense, conspiracy to commit a felony, and conspiracy to defraud.

He was remanded to Kitgum Government Prison until July 18.

The court heard that the accused and Obalim Richard Omoo, the Chairperson LCIII of Padibe Town Council, who is still at large with others, conspired between the months of April and May 2024 in Lamwo district to defraud the government of three vehicles: the UG 0445 Toyota Hilux Pickup (white in color), a numberless Toyota Hilux (white in color), and a numberless Land Cruiser (white in color).

The accused purported that they were taking the vehicle for repair, but they sold it to a businessman instead.

Ocen returns to court on July 18, 2024.
