NYSC Southeast Area Office Director Charges Imo Corps Members On Quality Representation

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director South East Area Office, Mr Chris Jimba has encouraged the 2024 Batch B Stream I Corps Members deployed to the State, to be good Ambassadors of their institutions, families and the NYSC scheme.

He charged them to regard themselves as instruments of positive change, saying that the NYSC Scheme has set all in place to motivate and prepare them for the future to achieve the mandate of national unity, integration and development.

Mr Jimba, during an official visit to orientation camp in Eziama Obaire commended the Corps Members for their good conduct, level of discipline, commitment and readiness to selflessly serve the Fatherland as attested to by the State Coordinator, Mrs Rachel Idaewor, whom he described as an asset to the Scheme.

The Director further, informed the Corps Members that NYSC is a bridge between their institutions and the future, encouraging them to embrace the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship (SAED) Programme aimed at empowering them to become self-reliant and job creators.

He advised the Corps Members to embark on projects that would positively impact lives in their host communities through the Community Development Service (CDS).

“I urge you to settle at your Primary Assignment and look out for the felt needs of the people and proffer solutions, thereby attracting development to the State,” said the Director.

On the security of Corps Members in the State, he assured them of their safety, saying that Imo State was a very hospitable state.

He equally enjoined the Corps Members to adhere strictly to the rules guiding the Service Year starting right from the orientation exercise and charged them to put aside ego and humbly establish lasting friendships.

The State Coordinator, NYSC Imo State, Mrs Rachel Idaewor, in her introductory remark, gave a brief on the camp and activities thus far.

She said the Corps Members’ level of discipline has made the administration of the Camp seamless.

Highlights of the event included the display of cultural dance to the admiration of the guest, three hearty cheers, presentation of gifts to Corps Members and inspection of Camp facilities.
