A bill on the establishment of a regulatory body for Chartered Out-of-Home Media Practitioners of Nigeria has passed second reading at the Senate.

It seeks to promote competence, professionalism, training, and adherence to the highest standards by practitioners.

Out-of-Home Media, according to Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, who sponsored the bill, includes outdoor advertising like billboards, posters, and digital displays, among others.

He explained that the regulatory body proposed by the bill would ensure that practitioners complied with industry best practices in design, production, and installation of outdoor media content, in addition to instilling a sense of accountability
in practitioners.

With no serious opposition to the bill by any senator, it scaled second reading on Tuesday.

It was referred by presiding President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, to the Senate Committee on Established Matters for further legislative work.
