Alia visits Tinubu, signs condolence register in honour of late journalist

Guardian Nigeria 2024/10/6

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, and Senator Adams Oshiomhole were among sympathisers who signed a condolence register in honour of late veteran journalist, Kabiru Yusuf, at the presidential villa, Abuja on Friday.

Other dignitaries who also signed the condolence register were the Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh. Before his demise, Kabiru Yusufo was a State House correspondent with Radio France International (RFI).

Governor Alia was at the presidential villa to meet President Bola Tinubu behind closed doors but did not speak with reporters.

However, sources said that the Benue State governor’s visit to the seat of power, may not be unconnected with burgeoning insecurity in the Sankara axis of the state.

Recall that Governor Alia had earlier on Thursday, declared that his administration has requested full military intervention in tackling insecurity in the troubled Ukum Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Alia had declared curfew in the affected LG following a violent protest which led to the destruction of personal and government properties.

The protest was said to be triggered by the killing of some people in Ayati village.
