Brendan Rodgers is in the market for fresh Celtic signings this window.

The Hoops won’t be able to register any new faces for the Champions League until the next round which the manager will have clear in his mind.

Celtic are one win away from a knockout playoff and Rodgers is demanding that come against Young Boys tomorrow after Unai Emery served up a warning from Aston Villa about matchday eight.

Rodgers wants attacking reinforcements in the January window regardless of UCL timing and it may be two wingers and a striker Celts will be holding out for.

And now the manager has laid out the blueprint for any potential forward who signs for the club this window as he named the player he feels is a “prototype” for the exact style he wants his teams playing.

Rodgers says Kyogo is his ideal striker

It has been a noisy window for £10million rated and Atlanta-linked Kyogo at Parkhead with Ligue 1’s Rennes also keen on the Japanese international.

After his 12 goals this term so far, Rodgers even swapped him onto the flanks in recent fixtures and he showed up well.

The workrate and the quality of Kyogo‘s runs in behind defences is, the manager says, exactly what he wants from his frontmen who lead from the attack.

Yet despite his talents out wide, Rodgers sees him best as a centre-forward and one any and all potential new signings should look towards and learn from.

Kyogo is versatile but Rodgers has say on his best position

“I think what he’s shown is that he has the flexibility to (play wide),” Rodgers said.

“The other thing I would say with Kyogo, in terms of how my team have always played, he’s the absolute ideal prototype of player that plays for me. Firstly his pressing is incredible. The speed at which he presses, the constant work rate.

“Clearly with the ball, his movement, his touch, his awareness. All those things that he brings to the game is absolutely perfect to play in a team of mine.

“Like you said, he’s shown that off in a wider position. I believe he came in here as a wide player, so he can clearly play in that position.

“I think the flexibility is good, but we had to do that whenever we had players behind you. If we need it again, there’s a possibility to do it.

“But his best position is as a central striker.”
