Contains spoilers for 'Space Cadet'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Space Cadet' has officially dropped on Amazon Prime Video, and if you have not watched it yet, now might be the perfect time to do so. 

Tiffany 'Rex' Simpson (Emma Roberts) is a a bartender but she crafts gadgets that frequently appear impractical. Driven by her disappointment in career achievements and frustration with peers who fail to recognize her talent, Rex decides to join NASA. Despite lacking any formal qualifications, Rex lands a position at NASA thanks to her best friend Nadine (Poppy Liu), who falsified Rex's resume.

Rex is a high school graduate with a passion for applied science. Her mother always encouraged her to utilize her talents. After discovering that Nadine had lied on her resume, Rex decides to continue pursuing her interest in scientific knowledge.

However, the climax of the film suggests a pivotal turning point in Rex's journey.

How did NASA find out the truth about Rex?

Everything goes smoothly for Rex in the first half of the film. She successfully deceives the NASA selection committee when questioned about her credentials, and even Dr Logan O'Leary (Tom Hopper) appears to develop feelings for her.

However, in the second half of the film, Logan is assigned the task of contacting the references listed by the candidates on their resumes. It becomes essential to gather opinions from other professors and mentors before advancing a candidate to the final stage.

For the references listed in Rex’s CV, Nadine impersonated six different people. However, Logan figures out that he's not talking to a real professor when Nadine accidentally turns on the video camera. He searches online and comes across Nadine's cosmetology website, which also features Rex performing at the bar.

Rex is immediately expelled from the program, and the police escort her out of the premises.

What happens between Rex and Logan?

As 'Space Cadet' progresses further, Rex returns home to Florida, grateful for having lived a part of her dream. However, those who qualified for space exploration end up stranded in space when a large piece of debris becomes lodged in the space station, damaging the airlock. With a rescue operation needing to be completed within 72 hours, Rex, despite not being part of the mission, takes it upon herself to find a solution to the crisis.

Logan and other NASA authorities are reluctant to allow Rex to go to space. They give her five minutes to explain her plan. Rex insists that NASA needs to send astronauts for the rescue mission and declares that she is ready to risk all.

She plans to remove the debris herself. Despite Logan thinking it's a terrible idea, other NASA authorities agree. She is accompanied by Violet Marie Vislawski (Kuhoo Verma), and together they successfully remove the debris, restoring functionality to the space station.

In the end, Rex and Vislawski recognize their unbeatable teamwork and decide to establish Galaxy Slush. Here, they innovate new technologies for space exploration. They also became full-time astronauts at Toddrick’s spacecraft company. 

In the end, it's revealed that Rex and Logan are in a happy relationship together.
