Arsenal could have to sell one of Jakub Kiwior or Oleksandr Zinchenko ahead of the impending arrival of Riccardo Calafiori.

The Gunners are close to completing the signing of the Italian international, with personal terms agreed as Arsenal look to wrap up their first transfer of the summer transfer window in the Bologna defender.

Calafiori enjoyed a breakout Euros with the 22-year-old building from his historic season in Serie A with Bologna, where Thiago Motta led the Italian side to a UEFA Champions League finish, with Arsenal set to land the versatile centre-back.

Yet Arsenal might now have to sell one of Kiwior or Zinchenko, with one currently more likely.

Kiwior could leave Arsenal over Zinchenko this summer

Speaking on , journalist James McNicholas hinted that Kiwior is the ‘more likely’ defender to leave Arsenal this summer with Calafiori coming in, with Italian sides interested in signing the Polish international.

Juventus have been strongly linked with a move for the former Spezia star this summer, having missed out on Calafiori themselves, with other top teams in Italy also keeping tabs on Kiwior’s situation at Arsenal.

Indeed, offloading Kiwior and making a profit on the defender would be viewed as ideal business for Arsenal, and all signs seem to point towards the Gunners offloading the Polish international once Calafiori is in.

James McNicholas said on who could leave with Calafiori coming in: “My suspicion is that one of Zinchenko or Kiwior will have to go if Calafiori is to come in, and my inkling is that there’s more market for Kiwior at this point in time, so that’s more likely.”

Arsenal should look to sell both defenders this summer

Kiwior and Zinchenko are both seemingly up for sale this summer, and with Calafiori coming in coupled with the return of Jurrien Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu’s success at left-back, selling the aforementioned duo could be wise for Arsenal.

The left-back position once Calafiori arrives will be as congested as it has been in some while, with Arsenal also not having any real clear favourite for who could take the role on a regular basis.

Yet in offload Kiwior and Zinchenko, Arsenal will create the space needed for three top players to fight for the position, whilst also bringing in money to help invest in other areas of the squad.
