Nigerian UK-based company, AfricentOCL, has once again bagged a much-coveted nomination for the 2024 Greater London Awards in the International Shipping Broker of The Year category.

According to reports, the company is owned by popular Nigerian-born international investor, Juwon Lawal, who is widely known for inventing new ideas that accelerate business growth and deliver appreciable results globally.

It will be recalled that AfricentOCL also won a category in the 2023 edition of the London award.

However, in a notification letter sent to AfricentOCL, the UK award panel said the company’s 2024 nomination came as a result of its consistent dedication to customer service and innovation.

Reacting to the nomination in a statement made available to Sunday Tribune recently, the UK-based company attributed the award nomination to the ingenuity and versatility of its boss.

The company said, “Growing Africent Group to a conglomerate, Mr Lawal employs self-motivation, perseverance, and smartness. Constraints drive innovation and force focus; Juwon Lawal uses them to his benefit. No doubt, his success story is that which is built on integrity and honesty. In spite of his achievements in business, he has remained an embodiment of humility.

“His exploits, thus far, have been unique in an extremely competitive market, making Africent Group, covering AfricentOCL UK Ltd, Eleven Ocean Ltd and Africent Industries, a household name in Europe, Middle East, and Africa.”

According to the company, “Since 2009 when he launched his first business outfit, ABD Fuels, Juwon Lawal has continued to reshape, refocus and repurpose his ventures, knowing well that business opportunities are not static as they ebb and flow with changes in technology, market trends, and societal needs.

“As an entrepreneur itching for success, our boss recognises that these features are crucial. Thus, he identifies unmet needs within the existing markets and explores them for growth.”

“Nigeria has produced a number of young entrepreneurs who defy the economic, social and cultural odds to create things that change the way business is done. Juwon Lawal stands out in the list.

“Although he believes that managing a business can be demanding, a good leader, he says, raises morale for positive productivity, adding that utilising emotional intelligence and compassion is a game changer in seeing results in a business. And this idea has continued to work for us at Africent Group because all we need to stand out is progress not perfection,” the company added.
