Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State alleged that the recent attempted bombing at Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt, where members of the National Assembly were lodged, was a deliberate attempt to create chaos and justify a state of emergency declaration.

As the political crisis in the oil-rich Rivers State continues to take a dangerous dimension, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to caution the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State alleged that the recent attempted bombing at Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt, where members of the National Assembly were lodged, was a deliberate attempt to create chaos and justify a state of emergency declaration.

The governor implicated supporters of Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, in the failed bombing.

Fubara, who spoke when a delegation from the Senate Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation paid him visit at the Government House in Port Harcourt, explained that the failed bombing was part of a larger plot to justify the call for declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.

The governor accused supporters of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now Minister of Federal Capital Territory, of being behind the plot, describing them as "haters" seeking to destabilise the state to achieve their goals.

“As a matter of fact, let me tell you, I know of everything that is happening. Yesterday (Tuesday), they (protesters) were aware that you are in the state. So, there was an attempt to create a serious problem," he said.

But reacting to the development in Rivers State, the Ohanaeze youth wing decried the looming anarchy in the state, adding that the intention of the plotters was to cause a breach of peace in a bid to derail Governor Fubara from providing leadership to the people.

The youth wing, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chika Art Adiele, described the audacity of the outgone chairmen and their agents to disrupt government activities in all the Local Government Headquarters in the state by barricading the entrances is an affront to the constituted authority.

"Our attention has been drawn to the looming anarchy and the intention to cause breach of peace in a bid to derailing the executive Governor of River State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara from delivering his people oriented projects," the statement read.

"We are miffed by the audacity of the outgone Chairmen and their agents to disrupt Government activities in the Local Government Headquarters across the state by barricading the entrance to these Government facilities.

"Indeed, there is a saying in Igbo adage that says; if the oracle misbehaves it will be reminded that it was carved out of the wood."

"Nigeria is a Constitutional democracy," Ohanaeze Youths noted adding that "it is an aberration for anyone to attempt to play God in the affairs of men."

"Constitutionally, Governor Fubara, was elected to serve a four-year term, with a constitutional convention for a second term, just like the outgone Chairmen.

"Therefore, the Igbo youths call on Mr President to wade in to this brouhaha in bid to deescalate this tension."
