Amid widespread condemnation of the alleged signing of SOMOA agreement which has set the country on fire over claims of LGBT inclusion in the agreement.

A civil society organisation, in Kebbi state, united for peace and good governance, in a press statement, signed by its state coordinator, Alhaji Mustapha Usman, said that, they are satisfied with the clarification of the country’s minister for budget and economic planning, Atiku Abubakar Bagudu, that the signed agreement does not contravene existing law against homosexuality and lesbianism.

According to them, the minister who is well cultured and from the far north where religion is deeply rooted will not be part of such agreement instead only that which will bring economic prosperity to the country “we decided to react without his approval because we operate independently as we protect whoever is being wrongly accused, we have had opportunity to read the agreement so we are armed with facts and not fallacies”.

We urge Nigeria to strive for a copy of the agreement before making hasty conclusion as we found climate change, security, economic growth, human rights and gender equality already provided in the constitution of Nigeria, therefore critics of Bagudu should have a rethink and desist forthwith the statement added.

Recall that, Bagudu came under fire recently over alleged participation in the SAMOA agreement which generated heat in the country dragging the minister into it and smearing his name over the alleged LGBT clause in the signed agreement.
