As Celtic prepare to kick off their pre-season with a friendly against Scott Brown’s Ayr United on Friday night, the club have sent a message to the supporters planning to travel and attend the game.

Ayr expects a full house for the match after releasing extra tickets to Celtic after the fans sold out their initial allocation within hours of release.

The Scottish Championship side is due to a healthy payday from the fixture as the Celtic fans look to see their team for the first time since clinching the Scottish Cup against Rangers last month.

And as excitement builds around the fixture, Celtic have sent a message to the travelling support ahead of the 745pm kick-off.

Celtic send pyrotechnic warning to the supporters

The Celtic fans are renowned for bringing colour and atmosphere to all fixtures the club are involved in. And often, that colour is from the use of pyrotechnics.

And whilst the opinion on the use of them is split, the club have issued a firm stance for the upcoming friendly.

In a statement on the club website, Celtic said, “Celtic encourages our supporters to support the team positively.

“The possession and use of fireworks, smoke bombs, firecrackers and all pyrotechnics are absolutely prohibited.

“Again, we stress the dangers surrounding fireworks and pyrotechnics, which are a serious risk to spectator safety.

“The club and its supporters are rightly proud of our reputation and we encourage all supporters to help foster this reputation at this fixture.”

Celtic fans have long used pyrotechnics to help create incredible atmospheres at Celtic Park and other grounds around Europe and Scotland.

The atmosphere generated at the 3-0 Glasgow Derby win when Ange Postecoglou took Celtic to the top of the league after beating Rangers will live long in the memory of many Celtic supporters.

However, as Celtic say, they are illegal and do pose a risk. Whether the travelling support will take any notice of the warning remains to be seen.

But there is still sure to be a party atmosphere as the Hoops support show their appreciation for the team and for legendary former captain, Scott Brown.
