Jamaat announces candidates for 19 constituencies in Sylhet division
Jamaat-e-Islami announced candidates for all 19 parliamentary constituencies in Sylhet division including four in Moulvibazar.
The announcement was made last evening by Jamaat's Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair during a regional meeting.
Mahbub Zubair said that Jamaat has intensified its organisational activities nationwide in preparation for the upcoming national election.
As part of these preparations, the party has finalised and declared candidates for the 19 parliamentary constituencies in Sylhet division, he said.
The candidates for Moulvibazar's four constituencies are Aminul Islam (Moulvibazar 1, Barlekha-Juri), M Shahed Ali who is also the district's Jamaat chief (Moulvibazar 2, Kulaura), Abdul Mannan, former district chief of Jamaat (Moulvibazar 3, Sadar-Rajnagar), and Abdur Rob (Moulvibazar 4, Srimangal-Kamalganj).
The candidates of Sunamganj's five constituencies are Maulana Tofail Ahmed Khan, chief of Jamaat's Sunamganj District unit (Sunamganj-1), Muhammad Shishir Monir, lawyer, Appellate Division, Bangladesh Supreme Court (Sunamganj-2), Yasin Khan, lawyer, APP, Judge Court, Sylhet (Sunamganj-3), Muhammad Shamsuddin, lawyer, Judge Court, Sunamganj (Sunamganj-4), and Maulana Abdus Salam Al Madani, retired principal, Gobindanagar Fazil Madrasa (Sunamganj-5).
The candidates of Habiganj's four constituencies are Md Shahjahan Ali, secretary of Jamaat's Sylhet Metropolitan unit (Habiganj-1), Sheikh Zillur Rahman Azmi, Dhaka Metropolitan North Jamaat member and former president of Habiganj District Chhatra Shibir (Habiganj-2), Kazi Mohsin Ahmed, secretary of Habiganj District Jamaat unit (Habiganj-3), and Kazi Maulana Mukhlisur Rahman, chief of Habiganj District Jamaat unit (Habiganj-4).
However, the names of Jamaat candidates for Sylhet district constituencies could not be known immediately.
