Sexwale was put in jail on Robben Island with Nelson Mandela and other anti-apartheid activists for his work. Sexwell became Premier of Gauteng province after he won the first democratic election in South Africa, which was held in 1994. Tokyo met his future wife, Judy, in prison. After he got out, they started going out and got married.
