Di Court of Appeal for Abuja dey deliver judgment for di appeal wey di former speaker of di River State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule and 24 odas file against di Speaker, Victor Oko-Jumbo, and five odas.

Di Appeal court bin adjourn on 20 June 2024 after di parties for di suit adopt all dia briefs for di matter.

For di court proceeding wey dem conduct virtually, Amaewhule and di 24 odas dey ask di court to stay or stop di execution of a high court judgement wey push dem out of office and stop any further proceedings for dat case.

Dem also dey ask di court to set aside watever decisions Victor Oko Jumbo don take as e dey office as di Speaker.

For dia response, Victor Oko Jumbo dey pray to di court to dismiss di appeal say e no get basis becos di records of appeal wey dem transmit dey incompetent.

Afta e hear wetin lawyers of di two groups tok for di appeal, di three-man panel led by Justice Jimi Olukayode-Bada reserve judgment. Na on Thursday July 4 dem dey deliver di judgement.

Di appeal court for one ruling on June 14 bin give order for all parties in di suit to maintain status quo, make nobody do any tin until di court hear and decide di mata.

Dis na to lay to rest a motion exparte wey dem bring bifor di court by di appellants (Martin Amaewhule) wey seek di reversal of a high court judgment wey declare dia seats vacant as lawmakers.

Di appeal court also stop di State High Court or any oda court from accepting di mata until e dey decided.

One Rivers State High Court for Port Harcourt on 10 May 2024, stop Martin Amaewhule from parading imsef as di Speaker of di Rivers State House of Assembly.

Di court give di order afta considering motion wey di new Speaker of di House, Victor Oko Jumbo, and two odas bring.

Justice Charles Wali, as e rule on di motion also bar 24 oda members of di Assembly from accessing di complex or carrying out any legislative assignment in di name of di Rivers State House of Assembly.

As dem no dey satisfied wit di decision of di State High Court, Amaewhule and odas carry dia mata go appeal court.
