Chelsea have been linked with a move for Lille striker Jonathan David – and now the Blues have been given a bit of an update on the forward and his future.

The Canadian forward has emerged as a potential transfer target for CHELSEA over the past few months, as the Blues will be desperate to add a new striker to that attack when the summer transfer window opens up.

Ivan Toney of Brentford and Victor Osimhen of Napoli are two other players that the Blues are interested in – but David would represent a cheaper alternative to the other two as his valuations is only about £50 million.

Lille recently admitted they are preparing for the 24-year-old to leave, as Club president Olivier Letang has admitted that the striker is free to leave this transfer window, alongside defender Leny Yoro, who is also linked with a move to United.

Chelsea have been in contact over a deal for the striker – and now Journalist Ben Jacobs has opened up and given a bit of an update on the situation of the striker – he told GiveMeSport: “David is expected to go this window rather than stay at Lille and end up leaving on a free or signing a new deal and there’s a high enough volume of suitors that somebody’s going to get a real bargain there. So we can keep an eye on Chelsea for Jonathan David still, but they’re not in a rush at this point.

“They’ve done good early business with a number of players. There’s an acceptance now that some players have focused on international football, especially with Enzo Maresca not even formally starting yet, and pre-season not underway.”

We do not know if David is the answer to all the goal-scoring problems at CHELSEA – but he is alot better than some of the other stars that have been linked with a move to the Bridge.
