The Los Angeles Lakers have made official the new contract signed by LeBron James, a two-year deal with a player option.

According to Bobby Marks, LeBron’s two-year deal is worth about $101.35 million, just under $3 million less than the maximum salary. This leaves the purple and yellows under the ‘feared’ second Apron by about $45,000.

James, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and the first player to surpass 40,000 career points, will begin his 22nd NBA season in 2024-25. The next season will be the 39-year-old’s seventh with the Lakers.

In total, James has appeared in 1,492 regular-season games (1,490 starts), posting career averages of 27.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.5 steals in 37 minutes. The four-time league MVP currently ranks among the top 10 all-time in field goals made (second), free throws (third), assists (fourth), steals (eighth) and three-pointers made (eighth).

“No one plays the game like LeBron James, and his commitment to consistent performance and long-term excellence is unmatched,” said Los Angeles Lakers vice president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka.

“LeBron is one of the most dynamic and competitive players to ever play in the NBA, and we are grateful to have him lead the Lakers for a seventh season.”

“LeBron James was our top priority this offseason. We still believe he’s a top-five player in the league.”

“LeBron, Anthony Davis and new head coach JJ Redick will together lead a championship-worthy team that will play with great pride every time they step on the court.”

In his 22nd season of NBA basketball, LeBron continues to remind us that no obstacle is too big and no goal is too big to reach. We are so grateful that the LeBron James story will continue to be written in front of Lakers fans around the world.” READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>

In 2023-24, James has appeared in 71 games, averaging 25.7 points on 54% from the field and a career-high 41% from long range, as well as 7.3 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.3 steals in 35 minutes. Only LeBron, MVP Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic averaged at least 25 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists last year.

The Chosen One extended his record to 20 consecutive seasons averaging more than 25 points.
