Driver docked over alleged stealing of N450, 000

A 50-year-old driver with FAAC Transportation Company, Ifeayin Owukaike was on Tuesday, arraigned in  a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on a two-count charge.

The defendant, whose residential address was not provided, is standing trial on a two-count charge of stealing and breach of peace.

The Prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 31, at about 5.30.p.m, at Olorunsogo Area of Ijanikin, Lagos.

He alleged that the defendant stole the sum of N450,000,  property of FAAC Transportation Company, the complainant.

The prosecutor said that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by deciding not to pay the company’s money.

He said the offences, contravened Sections 287 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr A J Aina, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with three sureties in the like sum.

He ordered that the sureties must be community leaders and show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.

Aina adjourned the case until July 15, for mention.
