PDP Stands Firm on Jigawa LG Polls Amid IPAC Dispute

As the debate over the timing of local government council elections in Jigawa State intensifies, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its stance against the Inter-Party Advisory Council’s (IPAC) proposal for a one-year extension.

Alhaji Sa’adu Barwa, PDP chairman in Dutse local government, confirmed the party’s position, emphasizing that the current electoral law provides a clear timeline for elections.

Despite IPAC’s call for an amendment to extend the election preparation period to 360 days, PDP insists that the State Independent Electoral Commission should adhere to the existing schedule, ensuring timely and credible elections.

With the tenure of the Jigawa State Government Council set to expire in July, PDP remains resolute in its demand for prompt electoral processes without any delays or manipulations.

Expressing confidence in their prospects, PDP underscores its readiness to contest and secure victory in the forthcoming polls, citing prevailing economic challenges and public sentiment as factors favoring their party.

Moreover, amidst allegations of apprehension from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), PDP remains steadfast in its commitment to democratic principles and electoral integrity.
