The Guardian Jeremiah awarded membership of Nigerian Economic Society

The Nigerian Economic Society (NES) has announced the conferment of honorary membership on The Guardian Editor, Energy & Power, Kingsley Jeremiah.

Jeremiah, who doubles as the Deputy Bureau Chief at the Abuja Bureau of The Guardian was conferred the award in recognition of his significant contributions to the economic and financial sectors of Nigeria.

The award, officially communicated in a letter dated July 2, 2024 and signed by the NES President, Prof. Adeola Adenikinju highlights Jeremiah’s exceptional work in national development, especially in the field of journalism.

“You are one of the few selected for this award that was newly created in recognition of those who have made significant contributions to the economic policy process in Nigeria, and in support of the vision of the Society,” he said.

Adenikinju, who conveyed the stand of the NES Governing Council, lauded Jeremiah’s influential role in the economic policy process in Nigeria. He said the newly created honorary membership category is designed to honour individuals who have made substantial contributions to the country’s economic discourse and support the vision of the Society.

Born in Ilorin on July 27, 1987, Jeremiah, who hails from Ankpa in the eastern part of Kogi State joined The Guardian in October 2017 and has since then won over 10 local and international awards. He was nominated in three categories of the Sanlam Financial Journalism Awards that is scheduled to hold later this month in Johannesburg, South Africa.
