Chelsea’s recruitment team have been in internal discussions in the last 24 hours about a potential transfer target.

It’s been a busy summer window so far at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have already completed the signings of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman and Tosin Adarabioyo. Also, Estevao Willian has signed as a Chelsea player and will officially join in 2025.

Despite all the incomings at Chelsea in the last few weeks, there’s still transfer speculation about potentially signing more players.

Chelsea discussing Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney

Journalist Simon Phillips has reported via his Substack on Wednesday that Chelsea are considering Brentford’s Ivan Toney once again.

It is understood that the Blues recruitment team discussed the 28-year-old star as a potential target on Tuesday night.

Phillips adds that Chelsea’s sporting directors already have a good relationship with Toney’s agents from when they were previously interested in signing him.

Elsewhere, GiveMeSport recently claimed that Brentford value Toney at £60m.

Should the Blues step up their interest?

The Chelsea Chronicle thinks that Toney could be a great signing at Stamford Bridge, albeit his £60m price tag is a bit steep.

Brentford’s star centre-forward has proven over the years he can shine in the top division. His overall Premier League record is 36 goals in 85 matches.

He’s currently away at Euro 2024 as part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Toney, 28, is an old-fashioned striker that would bring something extra to Chelsea’s forward line.

It would be good to see the Blues try to negotiate a bargain transfer.

If not, Chelsea do ready own Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku and new signing Guiu who can play as a No 9 next season.
