Twitter Blocks Mandela’s Grandson’s Account

X (formerly Twitter) has blocked the account of Late Nelson Mandela’s grandson Mandla Mandela, Sputnik Africa reports.

It is unclear why the suspension of the account was allowed by the owner of the social network Elon Musk, who was born in South Africa.

The suspension coincided with Mandla Mandela’s departure for Gaza on the Freedom Flotilla and occurred just one day before the 30th anniversary of the official end of apartheid in South Africa.

The 2024 Gaza Freedom Flotilla, organized by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, is set to depart from Turkey in April 2024. This humanitarian relief mission aims to provide aid to the Gaza Strip amidst the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

In December 2023, at the 5th Global Convention of Solidarity with Palestine, Mandla Mandela drew parallels between the struggle against apartheid in South Africa and the Palestinian cause.
