MEMBERS of the Kakamas police earned praise for their rapid action in recovering stolen items following a recent burglary.

On July 4, the police received a report of a burglary and promptly sprang into action.

According to Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela, the officers received information about a potential location where the stolen goods might be hidden. Acting swiftly, they investigated the lead and apprehended two suspects, aged 19 and 30, who were found in possession of the stolen items.

The duo now face charges related to the possession of suspected stolen goods.

In a separate incident, a vigilant Kakamas resident alerted the police to an unknown individual seeking accommodation. The resident noticed a strong smell emanating from bags left behind by the visitor. Upon inspection, the police discovered dagga in the bags.

The police confiscated 12.05kg of dagga and it was booked in as found property.

The SAPS commended the community member’s integrity and encouraged all citizens to actively report illegal activities. By working together, the community and law enforcement can continue to combat crime effectively, said Masegela.
